In the field of LED, discovering new raw materials and reducing LED costs has always been a development direction for LEDs. In recent years, the expansion and application of magnesium alloys in LED lighting products has become a new trend, and many magnesium alloy processing enterprises have begun to mass-produce magnesium alloy LED products and profit from them. LEDs will become a new growth market for magnesium alloys.

Magnesium alloys are mainly used in the field of LED lighting, such as street lamp housings and lamp holders, lamp profiles, downlight housings, bulb housings, tunnel lamp housings, and LED cooling modules. Including magnesium alloy die castings and profiles, the surface treatment uses fluorocarbon spray, spray and anodizing. In the domestic leading magnesium alloy enterprises Shandong Yinguang Wuyuan Light Metal Precision Molding Co., Ltd., Beijing Guangling Essence Technology Co., Ltd., Shandong Huashengrong Magnesium Co., Ltd., the recent orders for LED magnesium alloy parts have increased significantly, the production lines of these companies Both are in mass production and the product types are also very diverse. Among them, there are many products exported to Japan, Taiwan, and the United States, and domestic orders have begun to increase.

According to the preliminary estimates of the light metal research institute, including the export, the amount of magnesium alloy used in China's LED industry may exceed 5,000 tons in 2012, and may exceed 40,000 tons in 2015, which will be a rare market opportunity for the magnesium industry.

It is understood that in the context of the current global energy shortages, the energy conservation is an important issue for us. LED is recognized as the most effective in terms of its high efficiency, energy saving, long life, multi-changing and green environmental protection. A fourth-generation green light source with promising prospects. With the continuous promotion of low-carbon, energy-saving and emission-reduction policies, the LED industry has encountered a good opportunity for development. At present, the LED industry at home and abroad is developing rapidly, and a global round of popularization is ushered in. In the 21st century, we will enter the era of new lighting sources represented by LEDs. Its application will completely change the traditional concept of existing buildings in lighting design and lighting design. As the application work progresses, new lighting concepts, ways and means of implementation will be created. Therefore, in-depth research on architectural lighting design specifications, power supply systems, drive technology, structural design and thermal design will play a key role in promoting the application of LED in the field of architectural lighting.

According to estimates by authoritative organizations, global LED general lighting will increase from 1.9% in 2011 to 9.5% in 2014.

The Chinese government has also begun to implement green lighting projects. In 2011, the promotion of high-efficiency lighting products continued to be carried out, and the LED lighting application demonstration project was promoted. In the regions with different climatic conditions, 20 LED indoor lighting application projects, 15 LED street lamp application projects and 15 LED tunnel lamp application projects were selected for demonstration. The shortlist for bidding includes LED road/tunnel light, LED downlight, and reflective self-ballasted LED light, involving 28 enterprises.

It is reported that the National Development and Reform Commission has issued a roadmap for the phase-out of incandescent lamps in China. It is decided to gradually ban the import and sale of ordinary lighting incandescent lamps in stages according to the power level from October 1, 2012. First, it is forbidden to sell and import ordinary lighting of 100 watts or more. Use incandescent lamps. From October 1, 2014, it is forbidden to sell and import incandescent lamps for general lighting of 60 watts and above; according to energy efficiency standards, it is prohibited to produce, sell and import inefficient tungsten halogen lamps with luminous efficacy below the energy efficiency limit. From October 1, 2016, it is prohibited to sell and import incandescent lamps for general lighting of 15 watts or more. Through the implementation of the roadmap, it will effectively promote the healthy development of China's lighting electrical industry and achieve good energy-saving and emission-reduction effects. It is expected that the output value of the lighting and electrical industry will be increased by more than RMB 8 billion, and about 15,000 new jobs will be created. Electricity capacity of 48 billion kWh and annual reduction of carbon dioxide emissions of 48 million tons.

The Chinese government is also actively promoting the healthy development of the LED lighting industry. It is understood that before the Ministry of Finance, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology organized the tender for the 2012 LED lighting subsidy promotion project. Subsidized products include indoor lighting products - LED downlights, reflective self-ballasted LED lights and outdoor lighting products - LED street lights, LED tunnel lights. The subsidy standard is for each high-efficiency lighting product of large users, and the central government subsidizes 30% of the supply price of the winning bid. The person in charge of the National Development and Reform Commission said that the development of these efforts promoted energy conservation and emission reduction, optimized product structure, expanded consumer demand, drove the development of enterprises, promoted cost reduction, and users benefited, while also enhancing the awareness of energy conservation in the whole society.

Therefore, experts believe that China will become the fastest growing region using LED lighting, and its share in the lighting market will increase from 11% in 2011 to 24% in 2014. The trend of LED lighting to replace traditional incandescent lamps and energy-saving lamps has become a consensus, and LED manufacturers will face a very huge market. On the other hand, foreign LED giants are targeting the Chinese LED market and actively conducting market layout. In the next 3 to 5 years, the era of LED lighting really replacing traditional lighting is coming. The LED lighting industry is a technology-intensive and labor-intensive industry that is more suitable for China's national conditions. If China can adhere to independent innovation in chip preparation and independent packaging technology, it is entirely possible to realize the leap-forward development of China's LED lighting industry. China is the world's largest producer of lighting sources and lamps, but mainly low-end products. It is of great significance to develop LED lighting and enhance the international competitiveness of the industry. At present, China's LED industry has initially formed four major regions, including the Pearl River Delta, the Yangtze River Delta, Beijing and Dalian.

Cost and heat dissipation issues have always been two major problems that have plagued the development and popularity of LEDs. In addition to the quality of the power and lamp itself, the heat dissipation problem is the most prominent focus. It is well known that LED lamps for road lighting must have higher illumination in order to achieve effective illumination. To achieve higher illumination, it is necessary to increase the power of the product. Increasing the power will increase the heat energy. If the heat cannot be dissipated in time, it will inevitably lead to Light decay. Relatively speaking, the quality of the LED lamps themselves is good, the heat dissipation problem is not solved well, the life is difficult to protect, and eventually the light decay causes the dead lights. Because the light decay and lifetime of LEDs have a direct and decisive relationship with the operating temperature of LEDs. LED street lamps have high power, high heat and long working hours. The problem of light decay will be very prominent in use. To do a good job of high-power LED street light, first of all, we must do a good job of heat dissipation design of the lamp. If the heat dissipation problem is not solved, the LED can not reflect the advantage of long life. If the LED can not achieve the advantage of long life, all advantages will be lost. In terms of physical significance, controlling light decay and ensuring long life is more important than energy saving. Therefore, the core problem of high-power LED lamps is to solve the problem of heat dissipation and control of light decay. The problem of heat dissipation is a problem that must be solved by high-power LED street lamps. In addition to structural design, the choice of materials for the LED housing and heat sink components is also the key to solving the LED heat dissipation problem. Magnesium alloys are gradually becoming the best LED component materials.

The advantages of magnesium alloys for LEDs are:

1. Good heat dissipation. Although the thermal conductivity of magnesium alloy is not as good as that of aluminum alloy, its thermal residual value is worse than that of aluminum alloy, so its comprehensive heat dissipation capacity is similar to that of aluminum alloy, which can effectively dissipate internal heat to the outside. The use of magnesium alloys on the outer casing and heat sink allows the electrical enclosure to be free of vents. In terms of thermal conductivity, the thermal conductivity of pure magnesium is 167w/mk, and the thermal conductivity of pure aluminum at room temperature is 238w/mk. It can be seen that the thermal conductivity of magnesium alloy is about 70.1% of aluminum alloy, and the specific gravity is about aluminum alloy. About 64.07%, it can be inferred that the same weight of magnesium alloy will have better thermal conductivity than aluminum alloy. The heat dissipation coefficient of the magnesium alloy is 0.29 cm 2/s, which is slightly higher than the heat dissipation coefficient of the aluminum alloy of 0.244 cm 2/s. From the perspective of the alloy, the thermal conductivity of the magnesium alloy AZ31B is 182.3 w/m.k; the magnesium alloy AZ91D is 157 w/m.k; the aluminum alloy A380 is 100 w/m.k, and the 6063 type is 201 W/m.K.

2. Lightweight. In order to achieve environmental protection, energy saving and emission reduction, more and more additional accessories are installed on the road light poles, and fan blades and solar panels continuously increase the load of the light poles. The above-mentioned accessories made of magnesium alloy profiles can not only effectively reduce the load-bearing, reduce the load, but also minimize the extra damage.

3. The electromagnetic shielding performance is better, especially suitable for the outer casing and outer cover of the electronic product emitting electromagnetic interference, and the electromagnetic shielding film plating process which is additionally required for the surface of other materials can be omitted; it can be effectively used for the LED indoor lighting product. Reduce the harm of electromagnetic to the human body, used in LED outdoor lighting products, can reduce the impact of electromagnetic on communication signals.
